The winter wren is a very small
songbird about10 cm in length. It is a
dark reddish brown on top and a pale
brown on the underside. Its short tail is
tilted up over its back. It builds its
nest close to streams or other sources
of water.It nests in a variety of places,
such as the roots of an upturned tree,
in an abandoned woodpecker hole,
or in the branches of an evergreen tree.
The nest is made with tiny twigs, grasses
and moss and lined with hair and feathers.
